The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) is currently seeking a Community Manager for Illinois Computes.
The Community Manager will focus on growing the community of researchers who take advantage of Illinois Computes by engaging with communities at UIUC and the Illinois System, providing public relations and outreach efforts to identify and pursue promotional and communications opportunities, developing promotional materials, ensuring stakeholders receive timely information, and acting as liaison between project stakeholders and the project team NCSA is committed to increasing the diversity of the campus community.

Duties & Responsibilities Engagement Operations: •Co-develop plans for and support, the targeted outreach campaigns for Illinois Computes.
•Act as liaison between the project and its stakeholders, including stakeholders on the UIUC Campus and the System campus’.
•Serve as a point of contact with project stakeholders via web/email/social media.
•Through appropriate workflows, ensure user queries are tracked and answered professionally and efficiently.
•Work with the project team and the NCSA communications team ensuring timely execution of outreach and communications.
•Develop, collect, maintain, review and present community-related metrics.
Communication and Events: •Identify and execute promotional opportunities, such as presentations by leadership at department meetings, or workshops.
•Arrange one-on-one meetings for the project team representative(s) to discuss IL Computes.
•Assess project communications and identify gaps and inconsistencies and take steps to make improvements.
•Organize virtual and/or in-person meetings in partnership with the project team.
•Coordinate project presentations at external events.
•Coordinate with counterparts at the other System institutions ensuring timely and accurate distribution of project information.
•Monitor and use social media and create and distribute project communications such as newsletters.
•Maintain updated information on the website.
Documentation: •Document all outreach plans and completed activities along with goals, reach and outcomes.
Track sources of opportunities and maintain a repository.
•Support documentation development and distribution such as training and tutorials.
•In collaboration with other staff, identify, codify, and provide guidance on best practices for community management for reference.
Specialty Factors Three years of education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position.
Demonstrated experience in community management, event planning, and/or project management.
(Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
) Preferred Qualifications •Experience with community management •Familiarity/previous experience working with a wide range of diverse communities.
•Experience working in technical communities.
•Experience working with computing and/or computational scientists.
•Project Management experience •Experience in social media and public relations •Experience in a research or computing environment Knowledge, Skills and Abilities •Ability to organize, prioritize, and track elements of a complex project •Ability to work independently.
•Ability to talk to a variety of stakeholders, and understand their needs and goals and translate this into opportunities for the project team.
•Ability to work well with a diverse team.
•Ability to carry out tasks and to encourage participation from the team Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis.
The expected start date is as soon as possible after 2/16/2024.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
