Our team is expanding, and we are seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant to strengthen our accounting department.
*Position Summary:*
The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in our accounting department, requiring a robust understanding of both accrual and cash basis accounting principles.
The ideal candidate will be adept at managing a wide array of financial tasks, including but not limited to mortgage payments, real estate taxes, preparation of 1099s, handling census data, and conducting insurance audits.
This role demands a high level of proficiency in Excel spreadsheets, QuickBooks, and AppFolio software to efficiently monitor financial reports for owners and auditors, as well as reconcile bank statements for multiple accounts.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Implement and maintain accounting practices adhering to accrual and cash basis accounting principles.
* Manage and process mortgage payments, real estate taxes, and other property-related financial obligations.
* Prepare and issue 1099 forms in compliance with tax regulations.
* Conduct thorough insurance audits and manage census data accurately.
* Utilize Excel spreadsheets to analyze and present financial data effectively.
* Operate QuickBooks and AppFolio software proficiently for day-to-day accounting tasks.
* Monitor and prepare financial reports for property owners and auditors, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
* Reconcile bank statements for multiple accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
* Collaborate with the accounting team to streamline accounting processes and improve financial reporting mechanisms.
* Stay updated with the latest accounting standards, real estate laws, and financial regulations affecting the industry.
*Qualifications:*
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5-10 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the real estate or property management sector.
* Strong knowledge of both accrual and cash basis accounting.
* High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and extensive experience with QuickBooks.
* Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members, property owners, and auditors.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous process improvement.
