Description: Reports to the AVP – Mortgage Lending Exempt General Functions: Responsible for developing mortgage loan business.
Provide information on credit union mortgage products to members.
Assist members through the mortgage application process.
Gather and analyze background and financial information for purpose of determining loan qualification.
Approve or deny loan applications.
Act as point of contact for member through entire loan process, up to and including closing.
Work jointly with Processing Department to promote efficiency and provide top-level service experience for members.
Duties and Responsibilities: Build mortgage loan business by developing relationships with realtors, contractors, and other business partners.
Interview applicants and explain the steps of the mortgage process.
Guide applicants/members through the application process, providing & explaining the required disclosures and, if applicable, specific RD/FHA/VA requirements & Investor requirements.
Obtain necessary income (W-2s and pay stubs), employment, asset, and debt information.
Determine the client's creditworthiness and verify debts via a tri-merge credit report.
Assess the applicant’s ability to pay – approve or deny application and communicate reason for any denial.
Verify all information on the application.
Analyze whether the prospective loan meets the Investor’s and/or Rural Development requirements.
If rural development, obtain geo-code and submit file for conditional commitment.
Provide File Cover Sheet and Ready to Work file/approval to processing department.
Provide contact information for insurance agent and title company to the Processing Department.
Work closely with processing department to ensure efficient experience for members.
Remain sole point of contact for applicant/member through the entire process.
Request any additional information needed from member/applicant, including payoffs for any debts being paid by cash-out refi, and any member-scheduled inspections (sewer/septic).
If purchase is a private sale (no realtor) MLO will act as realtor and perform corresponding functions/responsibilities.
Lock rate once notified by processing that it is within lock window.
Coordinate closing with the applicants, sellers, realtors, and title companies.
Provide required compliance documents and disclosures to member/applicant at the appropriate times.
Attend closing as LLCU official representative.
Perform duties of Notary Public.
Cross-sell and/or refer other LLCU products.
Provide excellent member service.
Maintains work area in an orderly manner.
Performs other duties and works other hours as assigned.
Provides backup to other departmental functions, as needed.
Assists in department projects, as needed.

Must be able to meet physical requirements: prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer or standing to completely activities; must be able to lift 30 pounds at times.
Requirements: Required Qualifications: Two or more years of experience in a credit union or other financial institution required.
Thorough knowledge of real estate principles, practices, rules and regulations.
Vast knowledge of USDA, FHA, and VA mortgage programs.
Ability and passion to work with individuals in achieving their mortgage through an extensive, yet rewarding process.
Thorough knowledge of internet-based loan origination software.
Working knowledge of DSUI and Velocity/Loan Director LOS.
Knowledge of all residential mortgage loan products offered by LLCU.
Knowledge of secondary market investor guidelines and Rural Development requirements.
Skill, aptitude, and interest in sales.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people including Realtors, Title Companies, and mortgage processing department.
Ability to act independently and confidentially, using discretion and tact.
Ability to analyze situations and recommend workable solutions.
Ability to coordinate, multitask, and prioritize work.
Must possess NMLS Mortgage License.
Must be USDA Approved Lender.
Must be Approved Correspondent Lender of HBT and Guild.
Ability to maintain a valid Illinois driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications: Some university or business college, majoring in account, economics, finance, and communications preferred.
Previous experience in mortgage lending a plus.
