Description: We are searching for a strong leader and manager to fill our Director of Talent Management role.
The Director of Talent Management is a senior leadership role within our organization and includes ownership of our Talent Management team and process.
We’re looking for a hands-on leader with a track record of driving innovation through HR processes and creating effective change through strong project management and execution.
The team member will be accountable for all aspects of our people strategy and its execution, integration of the different components of the team member lifecycle, and payroll administration.
Fairlawn is a rapidly growing fully integrated real estate firm focused on value-add and ground up development projects in the Midwest.
Currently with 140 team members across 15 locations, we plan to expand into multiple new markets in the Midwest and double the size of our portfolio over the next 3 years.
The ideal candidate will have an intimate understanding of and ability to influence all the contributing components of attracting and retaining the best talent, and thus have a critical role in supporting growth and success of the company.
This corporate role will report to the Chief Financial Officer and be based in our Corporate office in Champaign, IL What will you do? Exemplify our core values of Be Kind, Be Flexible, Own It and Always Improve Identify ways to support the company vision through talent management.
Serve as the integrator of all talent management functions including talent acquisition, team member onboarding, human resources administration and team member offboarding Serve as a thought partner and HR expert to the most senior leaders in the organization; collaborate with department heads to gain insights into the organization’s future talent requirements Lead and manage talent management team members, holding them accountable to their roles and key deadlines; support direct reports with their accountabilities, jumping in and helping as needed Lead weekly team meetings and hold yourself and your team members accountable to departmental leading and key performance indicators, adjusting strategy as necessary Further refine our professional development and rewards processes including roles, career progression, training, evaluations, and compensation Manage benefits administration and structuring, serving as the primary contact with our broker to evaluate benefits packages; take ownership of the open enrollment process and associated tasks leading up to it Own payroll administration including accuracy of all inputs and running biweekly payroll Continually research, develop, and implement compensation, benefits, performance, and incentive programs.
Regularly evaluate and adjust compensation bands and programs to ensure competitiveness within the labor market Provide exceptional customer service internally and externally, serving as a model to others within our organization Own the annual talent management calendar and hold yourself and your team members accountable to timely planning and execution of all important procedures Collaborate with IT partner to ensure team members are equipped with the necessary tools for their success.
Maintain forward thinking mindset as it relates to the organization’s use of technology Ensure compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements – including OSHA safety compliance Annually assess and enhance the company handbook to protect the company and its team members Handle escalated and/or sensitive personnel issues with discretion, kindness and respect Promote company culture and vision through training, organization, and attendance of team events Learn and ensure compliance with all Fair Housing Laws including local, state, and federal housing regulations (We provide training) Pivot, roll up your sleeves and jump in where needed! Plus, the process is rewarding, and the results are great for your career Requirements: Supervisor Responsibilities: Yes Who you are – We’d love to hear from you if you: Have an undergraduate degree (in a relevant discipline including business, economics, marketing, accounting, finance, human resources, industrial relations, organizational behavior); graduate degree a plus Have at least ten years of talent management/human resources experience, with demonstrated experience successfully leading and managing teams Have at least 5 years of direct people management experience Recent experience recruiting in multiple discipline areas and levels, including hiring for non-exempt, exempt, contract and leadership positions Are proficient with relevant technology (e.
g.
Microsoft Office, AppFolio, Outlook) and can easily adapt to changing technology Have extensive experience with HRIS systems, including implementation and use of modules relating to all components of the employee lifecycle (i.
e.
recruiting, onboarding, performance management, payroll, time and labor, etc).
Experience using Paylocity a plus SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP designation preferred Strong understanding of OSHA standards and compliance, including applicable recordkeeping and reporting Demonstrate superior attention to detail, high energy and a positive attitude Have an ability to handle the most sensitive situations with kindness, respect and positivity Have an ability to give and receive real-time feedback with a positive mindset Can work independently and also work closely with other team members Embody our core values: Be Kind, Be Flexible, Own It and Always Improve Some additional things you will need: Valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle.
Availability to work longer hours and weekends during peak times for your department Availability to attend company team events and infrequently travel to our properties Must be able to complete the physical functions of the position, not limited to: The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting.
Activities include extended periods of sitting while working at a computer and fast-paced operations and events.
