Elite Paving, a leading asphalt & concrete paving company in central Illinois, is on the lookout for dedicated individuals to join our team as Paver Operators.
We have exciting opportunities for Paver Operators to contribute their skills and enthusiasm to our dynamic projects.
*Location:* Central Illinois
*Position Summary:*
Operates paver to spread and level asphalt and concrete material on subgrade and related surfaces such as highways, roadways, parking lots, etc.
Performing a variety of manual labor tasks on projects including; operation, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment.
*Responsibilities:*
- Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures, using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Controls material taken into paver, the depth of material being distributed through the paver, smoothness of mat, any unnecessary roughness and/or irregularities in mat, ride quality of mat, and depths of material distributed through paving machine.
- Operates screed machine from a standing position on a platform attached to the paver or walking alongside.
- Uses the screed machine to lay asphalt material to project specifications, including but not limited to depth, width, and grade.
- Operates other heavy equipment and performs other construction-related duties as required.
*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*
- Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits.
- Has a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry, including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction, and other details related to paving.
- Performs well individually and in a team environment.
- Ability to meet the attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Willing to work hours associated with the paving industry, including overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
*Minimum Education and Experience:*
- 3-5 years of related experience required
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
-Must have a valid license.
*Physical Requirements & Conditions*
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and tolerate exposure to loud noise
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
