You will be a valued part of The Team at The Loft of Rock Springs! JOB SUMMARY FOR THE MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT: The Loft Rehabilitation and Nursing of Rock Springs is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Maintenance Assistant.
This individual's primary purpose is to maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment safely and efficiently by current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by your supervisor, to assure that a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times.
Assistant Primary Duties and Responsibilities for the Maintenance Assistant: Coordinate maintenance services and activities with related departments.
Make written or oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator as necessary concerning the operation of the Maintenance Department.
Assist in establishing a preventive maintenance program.
Repair facility/resident property as necessary.
Assist in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job related maintenance functions to ensure that tasks involving the potential exposure to bloody/body fluids are correctly identified and recorded.
Inspect storage rooms, workrooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc.
, for upkeep and supply control.
Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as necessary or as may be directed.
Agree not to disclose resident's protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator.
Ensure all personnel wear and use safety equipment and supplies (e.
g.
, back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.
) when lifting or moving heavy objects.
Ensure that supplies, equipment, etc.
, are maintained to provide a safe and comfortable environment.
Follow waste disposal policies and procedures for the maintenance department.
Make periodic rounds to check equipment and to ensure that necessary equipment is available and working correctly.
Monitor maintenance procedures to ensure that supplies are used efficiently to avoid waste.
Ensure that equipment contaminated with blood or other infectious material is adequately labeled or tagged before being set for repair or decontamination.
Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
Be prepared to handle emergencies as they come (i.
e.
, rescheduling, maintenance work schedules, etc.
) Ensure appropriate medical waste is disposed of by our facility's established procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT: Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or its equivalent.
Must have, as a minimum, three years experience in a maintenance/environmental services-related position.
Experience with long-term care facilities is preferred.
Must know boilers, compressors, generators, etc.
, and various mechanical, electrical & plumbing systems.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
Knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures and the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing maintenance functions in nursing care facilities.
Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc.
, and keep the appearance of maintenance areas; perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for order, safety, and proper equipment performance.
Must be able to carry out repair and equipment installation programs.
