Digital Marketing Specialist Office of Marketing & Communications The Grainger College of Engineering University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign The Office of Marketing & Communications in The Grainger College of Engineering seeks applicants for a Digital Marketing Specialist position.
This position assists and supports strategic digital marketing activities—predominantly social media— that drive brand awareness, enrollment, advancement and reputational goals for the college.
In close collaboration with the digital marketing team, this position will manage college social media platforms and assist in creating an array of digital marketing materials, content and campaigns that engage audiences and new market growth around Grainger Engineering's legacy of innovation and future vision through measurable tactics and teamwork.
Duties and Responsibilities: Social Media Management: Coordinate with the digital marketing team in daily management and monitoring of college social media platforms Create multimedia social media content in line with marketing strategies and programs that informs, engages and moves key audiences to action Assist the digital marketing team in creating, capturing and sharing stories from Grainger Engineering faculty, students, staff and alumni that define the Illinois experience from a personal perspective Assist the digital marketing team in gathering and using analytics to measure impact of college social media activity Coordinate student brand ambassador program to develop content that highlights the Grainger Engineering student experience Assist in researching and identifying social media trends to strategically implement on college social media platforms Work with college-wide colleagues to build more consistent social media activity aligned with college messaging strategies and campus social media policies Monitor college social media channels for potential issues/risks to reputation, community safety or other critical university missions and report to leadership for appropriate mitigation Digital Marketing: Assist in developing, implementing and supporting digital marketing strategies across owned and paid media Assist with the creation and coordination of digital marketing tactics including emails, ads, webpages, collateral, social and paid media, etc.
in support of reputation, recruitment, affinity and advancement marketing goals Assist in developing and sourcing content for digital platforms Support the optimization of SEO across digital platforms Assist with the coordination of paid marketing campaigns, tactics and media buying Assist in providing quality assurance (QA) on marketing materials produced for the college Assist in developing new, interesting and strategic ways to use digital platforms Analytics & Reporting: Assist in coordinating marketing campaigns and activities to ensure correlation of activity to impact tthrough appropriate digital tracking and regular reporting Other Duties: Work within the office project management software and system, maintaining accountability for projects Assume additional duties related to marketing and communications to further the mission of Grainger Engineering Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
One (1) year of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related field Experience with social media management and/or content creation Experience with web analytics, social listening tools and/or social scheduling platforms Preferred Qualifications: Experience in marketing and/or communications for higher education Experience using design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Crello, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong attention to detail Ability to write and create short form content Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Customer service skills and an ability to work effectively in a team environment Ability to take initiative and work independently on projects Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects consecutively Excellent collaboration skills Knowledge of cultural differences APPOINTMENT INFORMATION This is a full-time Civil Service Marketing Associate position appointed on a 12-month service basis.
The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date.
The minimum salary is $53,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Work authorization is not available for this position.
