Summary The Development Manager is responsible for Champaign Park District and Champaign Parks Foundation’s fundraising and development efforts.
This includes developing and implementing fundraising strategies, cultivating and maintaining donor relationships, and serving as staff liaison to the Parks Foundation.
The Development Manager will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Development and other staff members to promote the organization's mission and programs to the community.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management or a related field or three (3) years of experience in fundraising.
Three (3) years of experience in fundraising and development Demonstrated success in designing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies and campaigns.
Experience in cultivating and maintaining relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
Familiarity with donor management software and fundraising databases.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate the organization's mission and impact effectively.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of nonprofit regulations and ethical fundraising practices.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect with donors and stakeholders.
Computer skills in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite or similar programs.
Supervision The Development Manager reports to the Director of Marketing and Development.
This position coordinates with and reports indirectly to a volunteer Board of Directors.
Training Can be obtained through the Champaign Park District First Aid, AED, and CPR Certification Heads Up Concussion training Mandated reporter training Harassment prevention training Bloodborne pathogen training Recreation software system training Drivers training and test Facility training Classification Non-exempt, hourly Part-time 1 (not to exceed 29 hours per week) Essential Functions Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of the public, fellow employees, and themselves.
Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion in all interactions, including maintaining strict confidentiality regarding staff information, communications from supervisors, and conversations with parents or patrons.
Uphold the Park District’s policies and standards for data privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Work with the Director of Marketing and Development, Director of Finance, and Foundation Treasurer to ensure all Federal and State reporting requirements are met for the Foundation, a 501(c)(3), and nonprofit organization.
Plan and implement the development program for the Parks Foundation.
This includes identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major donors; developing corporate philanthropic opportunities; conducting a comprehensive stewardship and donor recognition program; and implementing annual goals.
Coordinate all aspects of donations, fund appeals and annual giving campaigns.
Maintain positive public relations through interaction with individuals, involvement with groups and organizations, and promoting a positive image of the Park District and Foundation.
Prepares reports, minutes, and agendas for the Parks Foundation Board meetings.
Produce and provide regular detailed accountability reports about the District’s and Foundation’s fundraising results and operations.
Develop strong professional relationships with key community members, businesses and donors.
Update and maintain the Parks Foundation website page in conjunction with the District’s Marketing staff.
Develop and manage a planned giving program and track progress of any pending gifts, fulfill requests, produce correspondence and maintain communication with donor(s).
Attend meetings during evening and weekend hours as needed.

Physiological Considerations May occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The role may require attending evening and weekend meetings and events, necessitating adaptability in work hours to accommodate community engagement and donor interactions.

Environmental Considerations May work in various settings, including the office, community events, and meetings, requiring adaptability to different work environments.
