Sr Benefits Specialist - Decatur, IL
This is a full-time, exempt position.
Reports to: Director Global Benefits Department: Total Rewards Job Summary: The senior benefits specialist is responsible for managing the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability, 401(k) & pension plans in North America.
Duties/Responsibilities: Responds to benefits inquiries from leaders, colleagues and vendors on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
Processes and administers all leave-of-absence and disability requests: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
Partner with HR to assure positive colleague experience.
Responds to 401(k) and pension inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts in partnership with vendor.
Assists with the routine process as requested.
Assist with communication and assuring that most up to date information in available on all internal and external platforms.
Leads the development and posting of policies.
Performs quality checks and audits of benefits-related data.
Key participant in the review and development of the annual enrollment process.
Responsible for processing all benefits billing in according to contractual agreements.
Prepares and maintains internal and external reports as requested.
Develops, coordinates, and recommends changes for the improvement of workflows.
Develops methods and procedures for compiling and analyzing data for reports and special projects.
Conducts periodic audits to ensure compliance with laws, policies and procedures.
Assist with providing documentation for legal requests.
Works on special projects as requested, such as divestitures, acquisitions and joint ventures.
Leads special and cross-functional projects.
Presents training sessions related to the assigned benefit program or area.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to independently lead projects from start to finish.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Ability to deliver effective training and development.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
Five years of professional-level experience in employee benefits or human resources preferred.
Experience with Human Capital Management systems, such as SAP/SuccessFactors.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; specifically, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
