Position Summary:
A postgraduate training position that allows the pharmacy resident to perform as a licensed practitioner but to train under the supervision of an experienced preceptor.
The pharmacy resident participates in decentralized care to enhance general competencies in managing medication-use systems and supports optimal medication therapy outcomes for patients with a broad range of disease states.

Doctorate in Pharmacy
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Registered Pharmacist License or Registered Pharmacist Pass Letter upon hire or Pharmacy Technician License Student Designation upon hire and Registered Pharmacist License Full pharmacist licensure must be completed by October 1 within 3 months.

Essential Functions:
Actively participate in rotation activities, including: team meetings, patient care rounds, and other interdisciplinary meetings that occur on the services of their rotations.
Assist in the education of pharmacy students on clinical clerkships.
Develop and complete a residency project and present at required clinical meetings under the guidance and supervision of project preceptor.
Make dose recommendations based on age, weight and clearance function
Provide direct patient care by intervening as appropriate to improve prescribing, administration, and monitoring practices in the facility as related to medications.
Present in-services to the medical, nursing, and pharmacy staffs under the supervision of preceptors.
Screen medication orders for potential interactions with other medications, diet orders, disease state, or stated allergies.
Provide Medication Therapy Management Services as defined in the Illinois Pharmacy Practice Act.
