Director of Programming Position Summary: Oversees the daily operations and accuracy of all data entry and paperwork associated with the Safe Children’s Program.
Assists with compliance oversight of grant deliverables, data analysis and program evaluation.
Represents the Nursery in the community through outreach, speaking engagements, special events, and presentations.
Reports to the Executive Director and supervises Safe Children’s Team, including Program Coordinators and Crisis Support Specialists.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Program Management & Development Develops and implements innovative initiatives for Safe Children’s programming In collaboration with program coordinators, provides training of Conscious Discipline for Safe Children’s staff, interns and volunteers Assists with development and implementation of Crisis Nursery training for staff, interns and volunteers Oversees data collection and maintenance for Safe Children’s program.
Oversees and analyzes Safe Children’s statistics and other requirements of funding agencies in collaboration with Quality Improvement & Integrity Director.
Understands and implements licensing standards for the organization and responds to changes accordingly Staff Management Oversees staffing activities of the organization, including recruiting, training, mentoring, and evaluating program staff Performs periodic evaluations of staff to remain in compliance with DCFS license Develops and implements program policies and procedures to ensure programs are implemented efficiently and in a fiscally sound manner Determines and schedules staffing for Crisis Nursery programs and 24/7 on-call supervision coverage while remaining within budget Serves as on-call supervisor Supervises and collaborates with Program Coordinators to ensure program is managed efficiently and effectively Supervises Program Coordinators to ensure accurate tracking of program statistics and outcomes Communicates with staff and interns through weekly team meetings, bi-weekly supervision meetings, and bi-monthly all staff meetings Outreach and Collaboration Represents the organization at speaking engagements and meetings and collaborates with other community agencies and organizations Assists with development and oversight of Crisis Nursery Advisory Committee Contributes to organizational publications through program articles and testimonials Skills and Abilities: Education and Training Master’s degree in Social Work, Human Services Field, Child Development, Early Childhood Education from an accredited school or equivalent work experience LCSW preferred Experience Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan and coordinate operations in a multi-unit organization.
Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem-solving, decision-making and delegation.
Three to five years work experience with children, at least two of which are in institutional or other residential group care programs or equivalent Knowledge Advanced level of knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices Advanced knowledge of database management Advanced level of knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint Intermediate level of knowledge of early childhood laws, regulations, and licensing Working knowledge of Conscious Discipline and BabyTALK Basic knowledge of principles of continuous quality improvement Skills Demonstrated competency and ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships staff, community groups and other related agencies.
Demonstrated skills in cultural and linguistic sensitivity Demonstrated ability to supervise professionals and other staff/volunteers Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal communication skills Excellent skills in identifying and managing measurable goals and objectives Excellent skills in verbal and written communication, problem solving, and multi-tasking Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize Excellent database knowledge and data entry skills Ability to manage changing and conflicting priorities Deductive and inductive reasoning Psychological Considerations: 24/7 availability in emergency situations Fast paced environment Changing priorities High stress level Large volume of interruptions Job Type: Full Time / Exempt Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 Benefits Offered: Paid time off, Health, Life, Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Accident, Critical Illness, SIMPLE IRA
