Summary
The Senior Program Recreation Leader will assist the Adult and Senior Program Coordinator with the implementation and creation of various programs and activities for seniors.
Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age Must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent Proven experience planning recreation activities with adults or seniors Physically able to be actively involved in recreational activities Ability to effectively communicate with the public in writing and verbally Bilingual in English/Spanish is desirable but not required Available evenings and weekends as necessary Valid Illinois Driver’s License with clean driving record Supervision The Senior Program Recreation Leader reports directly to Adult and Senior Program Coordinator Classification Non-exempt, hourly Part-time 2, not to exceed 19 hours per week Training Can be obtained through the Champaign Park District First Aid, AED, and CPR Certification Heads Up Concussion training Mandated reporter training Harassment prevention training Bloodborne pathogen training Recreation software system training Drivers training and test Facility training Essential Functions Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of oneself, the public, fellow employees.
Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion in all interactions, including maintaining strict confidentiality regarding staff information, communications from supervisors, and conversations with parents or patrons.
Uphold the Park District’s policies and standards for data privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Provide close supervision of program participants at all times to ensure a safe and enjoyable recreational experience.
Take daily attendance accurately and maintain records to track participant engagement.
Plan, organize, and execute daily recreational activities and events tailored for seniors, including leading games and other engaging activities.
Manage program resources efficiently by adhering to the allocated budget for assigned recreational programs.
Set up required equipment before activities commence and ensure proper storage upon completion, contributing to a well-organized program environment.
Drive participants to planned trips, ensuring their safe and timely arrival at various destinations.
Foster and maintain positive working relationships with program participants, fellow staff members, and the general public.
Collaborate with supervisors to establish regular communication channels with participants through newsletters and meetings, enhancing the overall program experience.
Maintain a safe recreational environment by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and Park District policies.
Thoroughly complete accident, incident, and other necessary reports to ensure proper documentation and resolution of program-related occurrences.
Enforce Park District policies and procedures consistently to maintain program integrity and participant safety.
Regularly inspect all equipment and supplies, reporting any necessary repairs promptly to the immediate supervisor for efficient maintenance.
Answer phones in a professional manner during work hours, providing clear and helpful information to callers.
Assist participants in the registration process for programs, providing guidance and support to ensure seamless enrollment.
