Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing programmatic and logistical support for designated programs in the College.
Duties & Responsibilities Educational and Curricular Programs: Provide logistical and strategic support to curricular initiatives put forward by departments within the College of Media.
Recruiting and advising for to-be-developed online programs, such as a degree completion program.
Experiential and Co-Curricular Programming: Assist departments with planning and logistics of College of Media experiential learning programs and co-curricular planning.
This includes but is not limited to working with departments and campus units on short-term study abroad programs and other experiential learning opportunities.
First Year Experience: Serve as coordinator of the new student orientation course, MDIA 100 which includes updating the syllabus, working with advisors on content and facilitating the lecture once per week during the first half of fall semesters.
Coordinate and plan Meet Media, the college’s fall welcome week event for incoming students.
Administrative Responsibilities: Serve as a resource for College of Media departments related to CIM-Courses and CIM-Programs.
This includes but is not limited to assisting with course and program proposals and revisions.
Create resources and develop internal processes for Media faculty to help facilitate use of CIM.
Serve as liaison between College of Media and Office of the Provost academic programs staff.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree.
A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position.
(Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources Skill in analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Skill in scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
Skill in oral and written communication Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions.
Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
Ability to work effectively with staff, the public, and outside constituency groups Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others.
Ability to utilize various computer software packages, such as Accounting Software, query, etc.
Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in order to be able to analyze and investigate a variety of questions or problems Ability to analyze and develop guidelines, procedures and systems Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis.
The starting salary for this position is $62,000, and is commensurate with experience.
