Teaching Faculty (Open Rank, Non Tenure-Track) Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering The Grainger College of Engineering University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign The Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering (MechSE) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) invites applications for teaching faculty at the ranks of assistant, associate, and full professor in all areas of mechanical science and engineering.
We seek highly qualified applicants with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at all levels, with a commitment to scholarship and service.
This is a full-time on-campus appointment on an academic year (nine-month) service basis, paid over twelve months.

Teaching faculty positions are renewable, career-oriented, non-tenure-track positions.
Initial appointments are typically at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor, with the possibility of promotion to the ranks of Teaching Associate Professor and Teaching Professor.
Senior-level appointments are available for candidates with significant additional experience, stature, and demonstrated teaching excellence.
After the first year, successful teaching faculty may be offered multi-year contracts.
A Ph.
D.
in engineering, engineering education, or a related field is required.
Ideal candidates include those who demonstrate evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through research, teaching, and/or service endeavors.
Competitive applicants will show the promise of excellence in teaching, and at advanced ranks will possess a strong record of teaching and scholarship in engineering pedagogy and/or disciplinary research.
Successful applicants will join the department’s thriving community of creative, passionate, and innovative faculty who contribute to high-quality instruction, curriculum development, and student mentoring.
Teaching faculty also engage in research, outreach, and service activities, and are expected to develop active research programs in engineering pedagogy, and/or disciplinary scholarship related to the departmental mission.

Interviews and some hiring decisions may take place before January 31, 2024.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
The preferred starting date is August 16, 2024, for the Fall 2024 semester.
