Posting Identification Number 12-45-34477 Position Statement Under direction of the central Urban Fishing Manager, develops and executes the Conservation Education Program for the Urban Fishing Program in Macon County: Job Responsibilities 1.
Under direction of the central Urban Fishing Manager, develops and executes the Conservation Education Program for the Urban Fishing Program in Macon County: • Prepares and delivers instructional information • Possesses and handles live fish and bait in an interactive fishing clinic designed to instill an appreciation and understanding of conservation ethics, sport fishing techniques and tackle, fish ecology and identification, and an environmental consciousness into clinic participants • Travels throughout the area 2.
Serves as program liaison with media outlets: • Gathers data and assembles information • Composes newspaper and magazine releases interpreting the Urban Fishing Program activities • Drafts script material for television and radio presentations 3.
Participates in staff meetings relating to the development and presentation of education and information material 4.
Interprets and promotes the Urban Fishing Program’s services and activities: • Maintains contact with local and civic organizations and other interested groups 5.
Develops and establishes new and more effective methods of clinic instructions 6.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above Minimum Qualifications and Preferred Qualifications Minimum Qualifications 1.
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with courses in journalism, English, or public speaking Preferred Qualifications 1.
One (1) year of elementary knowledge of the principles of conservation education 2.
Two (2) years of professional experience in a public education and information program in a public or private agency 3.
One (1) year of experience in public speaking 4.
One (1) year of experience using cameras, projectors, recorders, and outdoor equipment 5.
One (1) year of experience presenting ideas effectively, both orally and in writing 6.
One (1) year of experience preparing reports and keeping records on conservation education activities 7.
