Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, the Career Launch Program Coordinator oversees the implementation of the Career/Vocational Readiness program at Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club.
The Career Launch Program Coordinator will leverage the Career/Vocational Readiness program curriculum to provide educational, personal, and vocational counseling to DMBGC middle school and high school members (with a strong emphasis on members 15-18 years old), and coordinate resources to empower students to reach their full potential.
This is a part-time, grant-funded hourly position (up to 29 hours per week, with the occasional opportunity for additional hours based on available funding and program need).
Funding is anticipated through June 2024.
Program Development & Implementation
Recruits local youth for Club membership and Career/Vocational Readiness program
Mentor enrolled youth by providing effective guidance and role modeling
Oversee the College & Career Readiness program; establish short- and long-term plans based on member needs and goals
Create and cultivate community collaborations with outside agencies in order to recruit speakers and organize college/trades school visits
Work with all members of the Teen Services team to plan and schedule programming that is responsive to the needs of enrolled youth
Locate and coordinate plans for attendance at college and career development-related community events and field trips (i.
e.
job shadowing opportunities, job fairs, workplace tours, college tours etc.
)
Consult and collaborate with parents/guardians, teachers and staff about understanding and meeting the special needs of members
Communicate the goals of the College & Career Readiness program to members, parents, and school officials
Assist members in selecting a program of study to enhance career planning
Assist all members, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals and plans
Assist in the implementation of programs for career awareness and comprehensive educational/career plans, which target high school completion, post-secondary opportunities, scholarships and financial aid information
Support members through FAFSA and college application process, with a clear understanding of deadlines, required documentation, and other related details
Partnerships and Data Management
Develop and maintains successful relationships with local high schools, colleges, community partners, and businesses
Accurately collect and enter program and member data into membership database
Analyze internal and external student and member data to develop quality programming and hit target program outcomes
Youth Supervision and Development
Provide a safe environment for members at all times
Ensure the emotional and physical safety of members
Provide safe transport of members to and from off-site trips and special events
Encourage positive behaviors and reinforcement
Additional Responsibilities
Assist in the recruitment and retention of middle school and high school youth to support with the average daily attendance goals of The CLUB
Contribute to creating a Club environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or 2-3 years of professional and/or Career Readiness experience (Preferred)
Knowledge of high school graduation requirements and other college/vocational school entry requirements
Experience teaching or facilitating groups
Strong interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to community and members from varying educational, cultural and social backgrounds
Ability to connect with youth, provide needed support and demonstrate patience and maintain positive attitude
Ability to work independently and in a dynamic environment
Ability to motivate, organize and supervise youth in a safe environment and manage behavior problems
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet program needs
Strong interest in education and impacting member learning in a positive manner
Excellent planning and organizational skills
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Proficiency in office-based computer programs
Valid Driver’s License and be approved by the Club's auto insurance provider
