Diesel Power Equipment (DPE) Technology Tenure-Track Faculty

This position is a Full-Time, Tenure-Track, Parkland Academic Employees (PAE) appointment.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
The tenure track faculty member is primarily responsible for providing lecture and laboratory instruction to students in the Diesel Power Equipment Technology program, the AGCO technician program, and/or the CNH technician program.
This position coordinates courses, maintains tools and lab equipment, and collaborates with full-time and part-time faculty and staff.
Tenure-Track Faculty teach a full-time load as per the PAE bargaining agreement.
They advise and mentor students and participate in governance of their departments and the college.

Essential Job Functions
Perform professional duties in accordance with established policies and procedures of the college.
Instruct lecture and lab courses related to the repair of agricultural equipment, construction equipment and heavy trucks.
Topics include, but are not limited to diesel engines, harvesting equipment, truck suspensions, brakes and chassis, transmissions and final drives, electrical/electronic systems, engine rebuilding, fuel systems, emissions systems, and hydraulics.
Develop, implement, and maintain instructional materials and assessments at the course and program levels to ensure students meet all learning outcomes and are well-prepared for a career in diesel repair.
Prepare course syllabus for each course and distribute it early in each term.
Ensure compliance with all college and industry safety rules, regulations, and standards for the safe set-up, operation, maintenance, storage, and repair of lab equipment and materials.
Actively recruit students via campus events, high school visits, community events, and one-on-one meetings.
Advise/mentor students.
Engage students through regular office hours and provide timely response to student questions.
Maintain accurate academic records: Submit required reports on student progress according to published deadlines.
Assist with the set up and maintenance of the lab for instructional purposes, including ordering supplies, materials, and repairing equipment.
Assist with budget development and management.
Participate and plan student activities outside the classroom.
Supervise student internships.
Assist with preparing for and conducting advisory board meetings.
Seek professional development to remain current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and the latest teaching tools.
Mentor and assist adjunct faculty members.
Collaborate with all faculty members in the program as well as various department and college personnel including faculty, advisors, recruiters, marketing, etc.
Seek and maintain relationships with various industry partners via corporate events, advisory board meetings, and other networking events.
Travel, including overnight as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
AAS Degree in Diesel Technology or similar field and 3 years of work experience as a technician working with agricultural equipment, construction equipment, and/or heavy trucks, or equivalent combination of education and experience (must complete an AAS or higher degree prior to tenure).
Must successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
Demonstrated verbal, written and digital communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
Ability to learn Parkland College information systems and learning management system.
