Do you have great teamwork and organizational skills, knowledge of how to use a personal computer, and the ability to lift and move bins frequently? If so, then we have a position for you!
We currently have a part-time Sorter position open at our Champaign hub.
In this position, you would work Monday – Friday from 1pm – 5pm.
However, schedules could fluctuate as business needs change.
As our part-time Sorter, you will assist in the daily sorting of books and other library materials transported by IHLS courier drivers.
You will also need to have the ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including but not limited to, books, tubs, or bags of library materials.
Employment is contingent upon Board approval and successful completion of a background check, drug screen, and physical.
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school student (with approved IHLS work force program).
Experience working in a library is preferred.
Here’s what else you will be doing:
Place notices and other miscellaneous papers in the appropriate library delivery container.
Develop and maintain shelf labels and repackage materials for distribution to member libraries.
Prepare delivery tubs and bags for use by courier drivers and setting up routes for loading.
Perform copying, collating, binding, laminating or other services that may require the use of production equipment.
Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with IHLS staff by using professional communication.
Sorting and preparation of Illinois Library Delivery Service (ILDS) materials.
