Job Summary
Provides exemplary communications and design support services with internal and external stakeholders at the University of Illinois Research Park and EnterpriseWorks incubator, an on-campus community for corporate innovation centers, startups, and researchers to locate together.
Helps to showcase the skilled tech workforce, student engagement, and daily activities as a differentiation that makes the location a nationally recognized innovation destination.
As part of a Communications and Programming team, develop print and digital materials for a number of different marketing, media, and outreach initiatives that support the Research Park.
Duties & Responsibilities Create original content, including writing, editing, and design for Research Park/EnterpriseWorks websites, social media channels, and other print and electronic communications.
This includes presentations, website content, social media content, templates, branded materials, publications, and marketing for new business development, which include branding that is consistent with University of Illinois and Research Park brand guidelines.
Capture and promote stories of entrepreneurs and corporate innovation centers within the Research Park community.
• Proactively seek examples of Illinois startup excellence and promote via social and digital media.
• Share examples of corporate engagement in the Research Park and the value proposition from the location at the University of Illinois Research Park.
• Develop case studies about corporate innovation centers in the Research Park in collaboration with unit leadership.
Identify and edit content, manage subscriptions, and track readership of the Research Park newsletters.
Create more specific content and build niche newsletter audiences as needed.
Maintain the Research Park website, including overseeing organization, content creation, updates, and evaluating analytics.
Make recommendations for social media engagement and develop content for the Research Park and EnterpriseWorks.
Post and maintain social media platforms (primarily Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram).
Evaluate social media metrics and performance, providing regular updates and pivoting strategy as needed.
Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate communications student interns as needed/appropriate.
Publicize Research Park activities, events, and programs with communications, materials, and digital promotion to the Research Park, broader campus community, external audiences, and partners/audiences as needed.
Provide communications assistance for EnterpriseWorks statewide entrepreneurship support programs in coordination with the grant managers.
Work with graphic designers, photographers, videographers, writers, and other content creators to develop multimedia content to augment staff resources and support content creation.
Manage and catalogue digital assets, primarily photo and video.
Perform other duties as needed to enhance and foster the goals and mission of Research Park and EnterpriseWorks.
Additional Physical Demands Work is mainly performed in a general office setting.
Position involves repetitive hand motions for computer work.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
One (1) year of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Dependability and ability to take initiative.
Superior client-relation skills, teamwork, and attention to detail.
Deadline-driven, as day-to-day work involves the ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects, and produce high-quality work.

Highly creative with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a team environment.
Knowledge of print and web production including email marketing, social media, websites, and print; knowledge of social media analytics, social media publishing tools, web analytics, and tracking technologies, along with the ability to develop multi-media materials with an active, professional social media profile and engagement track record; and/or strong artistic ability and proficiency with industry standard software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office products (particularly PowerPoint).
Multi-media design knowledge preferred.
Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5004 - Marketing Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis.
The expected start date is as soon as possible after closing date.
The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 per year.
Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
