Engineering IT Shared Services at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks applicants for an Associate Audio-Visual Technology Specialist.

The Associate Audio-Visual Technology Specialist provides end-user Audio Visual and Digital Signage support for departments and users within The Grainger College of Engineering.
This position is responsible for maintaining and supporting Audio Visual (A/V) technology such as projectors, cameras, microphones, etc.
within instructional, conference, and collaboration spaces, as well as digital signage across The Grainger College of Engineering.
Duties and Responsibilities: A/V System Support: Analyzing functional and performance issues associated with use of A/V technology, collaborate with peers on possible solutions and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
Assisting in the deployment of systems for classroom technologies, such as projectors, screens, and lecture capture equipment.
Performing technology maintenance of digital signage systems.
Customer Service and Support: Delivering excellent customer service by responding to requests in person, on the phone, or via email in a timely, polite, and professional manner.
Working to build relationships with user community by proactively communicating relevant information and discussing the user’s needs, initiatives, and service levels through periodic meetings.
A/V Service Management: Developing familiarity with trends in A/V technology.
Encouraging best practices regarding the use of A/V technology.
Performing processes for the regular maintenance, replacement, upgrade and standardization of A/V technology across the College.
Developing documentation and provide training for units and individual users on the use of A/V technology.
A/V Design and Project Management: Assisting in the delivery of individual A/V projects.
Promoting the use of standard A/V systems and services where practical and work to adapt such services to the unique needs of the unit where necessary.
Organizational Support: Partnering with Engineering IT customer support staff on the support of A/V technology.
Working with Engineering IT and departmental staff to provide A/V support for occasional high profile events, which may occur outside business hours.
Other Duties as Assigned Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of work experience in IT‐related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months 90 semester hours equals two (2) years Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years).
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting common desktop and mobile computing applications and hardware.
Demonstrated working in a customer service environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in technology at an institution of higher education or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the systems and operations used within the areas and departments of responsibility.
Familiarity with networking concepts and connectivity.
Knowledge of current technology for production and display of multimedia content (e.
g.
cameras, mixers, projectors, and digital displays).
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Ability to participate in cross-functional groups assigned to tasks or project work.
Ability to oversee and coordinate activities of user groups.
Ability to effectively communicate and professionally interact with all staff levels and customer groups.
Ability to identify and resolve technical problems.
Ability to demonstrate fundamental knowledge of effective troubleshooting methodologies.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION This is a full-time Civil Service Information Technology Support Associate position appointed on a 12-month service basis.
The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date.
The minimum salary for the Associate Audio-Visual Technology Specialist is $47,600 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Employees hired into this position will be expected to work onsite on a full-time basis.
Work authorization is not available for this position.
