Title: Senior IT Infrastructure Specialist - Gies College of Business
Primary Position Function/Summary: The Senior IT Infrastructure Specialist will serve as the primary support for IT infrastructure, including server administration and network management of cloud and on-premises environments.
This position may serve other colleges or units through the collaborative efforts of Information Technology Partners.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Infrastructure for all IT Partners Work collaboratively with IT Solutions Architect to design, provide specifications, and assist in the procurement of compute and storage infrastructure Manage, maintain, monitor, and evaluate compute and storage infrastructure Serve as college liaison with compute/storage services and provide college-specific management of these infrastructure services Provide primary consulting and support for college-managed compute and storage infrastructure Oversee the college Active Directory identity, access, and management (IAM) Maintain and monitor local area network (LAN) and domain name system (DNS) Setup, monitor, and maintain compute and storage backups and perform restore operations as necessary Provide technical guidance on performance standards, security measures, and systems analysis Work with campus security staff to ensure college infrastructure meets security compliance standards Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plan for college network and server infrastructure Support IT Partners solutions architects and end point specialists in their roles Infrastructure for Application and Data services Work collaboratively with the IT Partners Applications & Data groups to manage cloud and on-premises infrastructure for all applications and data systems, including server management, network management, monitoring, backup/recovery, logging, and security hardening Research new cloud and on-premises technologies, evaluate new projects, develop project plans, and coordinate rollout of services in support of applications and data systems Work with campus infrastructure technologists and vendor engineers to design efficient and sustainable IT infrastructure models Infrastructure for Audiovisual and Endpoint services Work across the IT Partners team to provide network, infrastructure, and computing expertise to co-develop innovative technology solutions to emerging college needs with AV and endpoint services Provide occasional support to faculty, staff, and students on infrastructure- or network-related requests Maintain and support data integration of inventory among different endpoint systems such as MECM, Munki, and Team Dynamix (TDX) Infrastructure for Teaching and Learning (15%) Provide direct support for cloud and virtualized computing resources for faculty and staff, specifically with Microsoft Azure and Citrix environments Advise and evaluate the use of virtualization and cloud computing in college research and lab services Provide expertise and consulting to Director of Classroom and Conference Technology and college Teaching and Learning unit Teamwork, Campus Collaboration, and Leadership (5%) Align work with shared team values of IT Partners @ Gies.
Represent college on campus initiative, committees, and working groups focused on networking, infrastructure, cloud computing, and technology innovation.
Contribute to the development of campus strategy and operational best practices for utilization of cloud resources Position Requirements and Qualifications: Specialty Factors: High school diploma or equivalent.
Four (4) years of work experience in IT‐related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years).
Preferred: Technology or computer-science related degrees Experience with Microsoft Azure and a strong understanding of Azure capabilities and limitations Experience managing a virtualization environment; preferably VMware, ESX/ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V Cloud storage infrastructure experience (including Box.
com, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure) Experience in migrating physical or virtualized workloads between on-premises and cloud service Experience leveraging hybrid cloud technologies to connect local and cloud resources Thorough understanding of infrastructure (firewalls, load balancers, hypervisor, storage, monitoring, security, etc.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
The salary range for this position starts at $68,000 for the title of IT Infrastructure Specialist and $76,000 for the title of Senior Infrastructure Specialist.
