Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois invites applications from qualified individuals for a 100% full-time Usability and Accessibility Specialist in IT Partners.

Job Summary Plays a crucial role in shaping the user experience and ensuring accessibility compliance for IT Partners websites and web applications, enhancing the usability and accessibility of digital platforms for a diverse range of users.
Duties & Responsibilities UI/UX Design · Design and refine user interfaces for websites, web applications, and vended platforms, ensuring an intuitive and engaging user experience.
· Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and insights.
· Collaborate with product managers and developers to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
· Establish, document, and maintain design guidelines, best practices, and standards.
· Analyze user feedback and activity to enhance the usability and functionality of our products.
Accessibility · Ensure web content is accessible in accordance with WCAG and ADA standards and guidelines.
· Perform accessibility audits and implement necessary changes to meet compliance standards.
· Stay updated on accessibility laws and standards, and proactively apply this knowledge in design and development processes.
· Educate and guide the team on accessibility best practices and requirements.
Leadership and Administration · Engage in team processes related to project planning, internal and client communications, and collaboration according to established expectations.
· Contribute to campus technology initiatives and workgroups that further the mission of the college.
Other duties as required and/or assigned by the Associate Director of IT Partners or Senior Director of IT Partners.
Minimum Qualifications Specialty Factors • High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of work experience in IT‐related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years).
• Demonstrated experience in web UI/UX design and/or web accessibility.
Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in UI/UX design.
• At least 1 year of experience implementing accessible design standards.
• Experience in conducting user research and usability testing.
• Experience with working as part of collaborative and diverse teams in support of common objectives.
• Experience at an institution of higher education or equivalent environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Familiarity with WCAG and ADA standards for accessible design.
Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, etc.
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and an understanding of how design choices translate in development.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Knowledge of current trends in UI/UX and digital accessibility.
Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis (overtime exempt).
The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search close date.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
The salary range for this position starts at $70,000.
