Assistant Event Media Producer

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is accepting applications for an Assistant Event Media Producer in the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL).
As part of the Instructional Media Resources (IMR) team, this position works closely with campus staff and clients to plan and execute media production consistent with promotional, outreach and departmental goals.
This position coordinates event media productions across varied production scopes and collaborates with campus media professionals to assist with the design and development of shared media resources to benefit our faculty, staff, and students.
Professional livestreaming and recording of campus events ensures every student, regardless of background or ability, can engage fully in our educational and cultural experiences.
This engagement results in the production of shared media resources that resonate with, and celebrate, the diversity of faculty, staff, and students at the University of Illinois.
Duties & Responsibilities Event Recording Manage media production for University events and CITL projects from project scoping to distribution.
Direct and record video/audio recordings and livestreams both in studio and on-location settings.
Ensure media content is ADA compliant and accessible to people with disabilities as required by Illinois state law.
Regularly report to the Event Media Producer on the status of projects and media production strategy.
Assist student production staff in areas of video production and post-production.
Instructional Media and Training Collaborate with larger IMR team for post-production, graphics and archival support as needed by particular projects as well as contribute to long-term strategy for scalable media creation and distribution services.
Provide training on effective and inclusive media creation, distribution, and archival procedures to faculty, staff and archival procedures to faculty, staff and students.
Miscellaneous Maintain knowledge of and aptitude for evolving media forms, techniques, equipment and applications for live event media production.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in film/video production, cinematography, radio and television, documentary film production, photojournalism, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field to the position.
Three (3) years (36 months) of professional work experience in areas including non-linear video editing, motion graphics, video lighting and composition, camera operation, graphics design, audio recording, video production, or a closely related professional area.
Demonstrated experience using the following software applications: Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Premiere, Photoshop and Audition), Open Broadcaster Software, and Zoom.
Experience working in studio settings involving lighting design, working with green screens, and operating professional camera and sound equipment.
Experience with field production including the video recording of live events, the use of portable lighting and sound equipment, and multi-camera live editing with software and hardware switchers.
Experience managing projects in both studio and field settings.
Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office, accountancy, and project management software.
Experience supervising student employees.
Successful Candidates will have the following- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as in a self-directed, proactive, and creative manner.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and productively.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Flexibility in scheduling, as many events include evening and/or weekend work.
Valid Illinois driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally.
Working knowledge of existing and emerging digital media technologies and applications.
Proven ability to successfully develop educational media content with faculty, lecturers/instructors, staff, and students.
including learning management systems (particularly, Canvas and Kaltura).
Advanced post-production skills and animated graphics with After Effects.
Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5014 - Cinematographer/Creative Video Producer position, appointed on a 12-month basis.
The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search.
Minimum salary for this position is $48,000.
