Analytics Engineer II - Decatur, IL
This is a full-time, exempt-level position.
Job Summary The Analytics Engineer II position is an intermediate- to advanced-level, salaried position in the Manufacturing Analytics and Transformation (MA&T) team.
The MA&T team is part of the larger Performance Excellence and Continuous Improvement organization.
We help manufacturing facilities make better decisions with data.
It is the vision of the MA&T team to enable and empower ADM to continuously unlock value through data-driven and transformational solutions.
The Analytics Engineer leverages control strategy design, advanced process control, and data analytics to drive continuous improvement in process operations.
This role deploys process control knowledge, advanced analytical tools and resources to improve manufacturing process efficacy in colleague safety, product quality, environmental impact, process reliability, and profitability.
The role will track performance of these applications to maintain performance and manage projects that are supported by multiple colleagues.
The Analytics Engineer will continue to strengthen the capabilities they have been exposed to thus far in their career and develop additional technical skills needed within process control and manufacturing analytics.
In addition, they will focus on developing leadership, ability to influence, and project management capabilities.
They will be a coach and mentor to others within the MA&T team, as well as process engineers across the company.
This individual must be an exceptional communicator and collaborator as they work with various teams in plant engineering, plant management, and various Automation and Technology teams.
They should have an extensive knowledge of a variety of process unit operations and a willingness to continue to develop further process knowledge required to guide optimization of manufacturing processes.
A successful Analytics Engineer must be able to express this knowledge in a clear and concise manner tailored to their audience in order to gain and maintain support for the team’s projects.
Job Responsibilities Identify, prioritize, initiate, get buy in for, execute, and sustain high value advanced process control and analytics projects Identify high value projects, determine which are most likely to provide the largest impacts, get buy in for those projects Work with process experts, operators, engineers, and management to design control systems that deliver ADM’s goals for that equipment, including cost, yield, and other financial impacts, while delivering high uptime and meeting Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) considerations Identify and recommend improvements to basic control system design Build and deploy APC applications Build, interpret, and deploy analytical models Generate documentation, coordinate and provide training, perform layered audits, develop and maintain working relationships with project users and managers, and take other steps to ensure results are sustained Understand, follow, and propose updates to relevant ADM and team standards and best practices Travel to locations to provide on-site support when appropriate Required Qualifications Bachelors degree (or higher) in engineering or a similar technical discipline, or equivalent professional work experience Experience training others Experience communicating with and getting buy in from multiple levels of the organization, including hourly colleagues and plant management Experience with advanced process controls systems which could include Aspen DMC3, Rockwell Pavilion8, Aveva APC, Honeywell Profit, or any other model predictive or advanced process control platform Experience with data historians, including Aveva (OSISoft) PI Willing and able to spend time in plant areas (i.
e.
walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders, and move through close spaces) working hands-on with the automation systems and equipment Capable of working in extreme temperatures Ability to travel; air travel may be required A desire to learn and advance into higher levels of process automation or analytics engineering Preferred Qualifications Experience with control systems, potentially including Allen Bradley Control Logix, Plant PAX, and DeltaV Excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement listed?
