Responsible for initiating corrective action to address safety issues.
Analyses industrial accident causes and hazards and establishes corrective measures.
Ensures the communication of general safety policies and procedures to be followed by plant personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal safety guidelines to facilitate the principles of safe working conditions.

Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, shops, fire prevention and safety programs.
6.
Inspects facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and implements corrective or preventive measures where needed.
7.
Keeps managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working with hazardous substances.
8.
Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries and documentation.
9.
Compiles and submits reports required by regulatory agencies.
10.
Oversees the administration of workers' compensation program, including working with insurance carrier to manage lost time injuries and elevation of fraudulent claims.
11.
Develops and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety awareness.
12.
Oversees the administration of loss prevention and control programs and works with insurance carrier in the facilitation of such program.
13.
Purchases or recommends purchases of safety items including personal protective equipment as well as environmental and engineering controls and maintains the budget requirements of the safety department.
14.
Works with insurance providers to ensure they receive feedback in regards to recommendations they have made to improve safety operations.
15.
Review safety skill blocks and technical training modules to ensure OSHA and EPA compliance.

Conducts and directs disciplinary corrective actions for violations of company safety policies or procedures.
15.
Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
16.
Maintains safety files, documentation, and records.
17.
Has the authority to place product on hold.
18.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1.
Bachelor's degree (B.
A.
) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
3.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations, general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures.
4.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
5.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
6.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
7.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
8.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule.
