The I Hotel and Illinois Conference Center is a privately-owned boutique hotel, restaurant, and conference center facility committed to providing superior guest service; it is Champaign-Urbana’s only facility that is constructed to AAA Four-Diamond standards.
The I Hotel and Illinois Conference Center is seeking a Human Resources Associate in charge of Training and Recruiting and will include managing activities such as systems and documentation administration, job design, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training & development, and talent management.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Supports recruitment initiatives by establishing and maintaining relationships with staffing and employment agencies, online job boards, local media outlets and educational organizations Conduct initial screening interviews and participate in interviews with department managers Support and continually develop the onboarding process for all employees Support and continually develop training and development process Complete employment new hire paperwork, orientation, and initial training Enhance current employee training and development programs Create and disseminate policies and procedures throughout company departments Continually enhance employees’ knowledge and understanding of job responsibilities through continuous communication and on-the-job training.
Training should focus on establishing high quality/accuracy of work Review HR compliance regulations and ensure adherence and break room/org chart updates Analyze company pay scale and ensure it remains competitive Payroll and HR system maintenance, entry, and processing Analyze and update the company organizational chart Document and drive employee safety, welfare, wellness and health initiatives Employee safety, welfare, wellness and health Provide daily HR support and guidance to employees and managers on all aspects of HR to include safety, benefits and employee relations Conduct meetings and complete documentation for human resources issues including terminations for each department with the appropriate department head Complete documentation for human resources issues for each department with the appropriate department head Prepare, modify, and summarize documents including correspondence, reports, draft, memos, policies, procedures and emails Maintains confidentiality compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment Help ensure that the Organization’s philosophy, mission, vision and values are pertinent, prominent and practiced throughout the entire Company Administrative support and performs all functions as assigned by management Qualifications: Associate’s degree in HR, Business or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred Minimum two (2) years Human Resources and/or payroll processing experience Strong computer skills, proficient in using Microsoft office Software; proficiency in Excel required Experience using Huma Resource databases/payroll software like Paylocity a plus Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as collaborate with other departments on projects and initiatives Extremely organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills The ability to multi-task, prioritize, plan and use time efficiently to stay on point, work with a sense of urgency and meet deadlines is crucial; willingness to attach and solve difficult issues The ability to work within a flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and be on-call Effectively and professionally convey information, internally and externally, through verbal and written communication skills Actively listen, communicate clearly, and concisely and assure understanding.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus Proactive with a sense of urgency to meet guest satisfaction Ability to make independent decisions to complete tasks and projects Excellent and detail-oriented written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Creative problem solver and a self-starter, results-oriented Professional appearance Proficient leadership skills, experience with leading a team as well as working well within a team For full-time employees, Health benefits package, 401(k), paid vacation, and bonus structure offered.
