The Child Watch caregiver provides a quality experience for Stephens Family YMCA members and guests, providing direct care to children ages six weeks to 10 years while parents and guardians utilize the Stephens Family YMCA.
Essential Functions
Overall
Support the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Provide a quality experience to children and families focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.
Principal Responsibilities
Provide direct supervision of a group of children ages six weeks to 10 years of age while parents and guardians utilize the facility.
Care for and interact with children on a developmentally appropriate level.
Encourage children’s engagement in age-appropriate activities that foster positive physical, social, emotional and spiritual growth and development.
Ensure safety of all children in assigned Child Watch area.
Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
Make sound judgements with respect to emergency situations.
Clean and disinfect Child Watch area, toys and materials.
Keep Child Watch area safe, clean and neat in appearance.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with members, guests, parents/guardians and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
Attend all required staff meetings.
Qualifications and Physical Demands
Qualified applicants must be:
16 years of age.
Able to life 60 pounds.
Certified in Adult/Pediatric CPR and AED or obtain certification within 60 days of employment.
