GENERAL FUNCTION
The Art Teacher will lead groups of youth in daily art activities.
They will have a positive outlook on summer activities and will be willing to help children to grow to their full potential through their passion for arts and crafts.
Staff will provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth and will be actively involved and have a positive attitude about all Stephens Family YMCA programs and activities.
The ideal candidate will be able to work all 4 weeks of Art Camp, as outlined below, along with attending mandatory trainings which will be held before Art Camp begins.
CAMP RESPONSIBILITIES, DATES, TIMES
Art Camp – June 17-21 8:00am – 4:30pm and July 22-26 1:00-4:00pm
Camp includes creating 2-3 projects per day with students entering grades 3-8.
Projects should expose each child to painting, sculpting, and drawing.
Art Attack – June 3-7 and July 8-12; 1:00pm-4:00pm
Camp includes drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpting.
Campers will learn the basics of art structure such as line, shape, value, texture, pattern, space, and color.
Inspiration from artists such as Picasso, Monet and Van Goh is encouraged.
Doodle Bugs – July 22-26
Camp includes a week of playful art activities, fostering imagination and confidence.

Knowledge and skills in program activities and related equipment set-up and the ability to instruct participants in age appropriate techniques
Leading hands-on creative, fun art activities to campers entering grades 3-8

When this position’s duties are fulfilled successfully, the YMCA camp programs will be viewed as a quality day camp that focuses on the safety of children and improve the quality of life in the Champaign County area.
Campers will acquire an understanding of YMCA values, an appreciation of others, a sense of belonging and life long memories of friends and fun.
