*Our Mission* Baby TALK’s mission is to positively impact child development by nurturing healthy and responsive relationships during the critical early years.
*Job Summary* The Early Care and Education Coordinator facilitates the day-to-day operations of Baby TALK’s center-based programming for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years of age and serves as the director supervisor of classroom teachers and assistants.
The Early Care and Education Coordinator facilitates parents, staff, and others in the implementation of a developmental and culturally appropriate education program, in documentation of services and completion of reporting requirements.
Provides supportive supervision, facilitates reflective practice and oversees professional development of staff.
*Essential Functions* * Directly supervise 6 early childhood classrooms comprised of 12 lead teachers and 6 assistant teachers.
* Work in tandem with the Early Care and Education Coordinators and Manager to ensure that performance standards, guidelines and licensing standards are met and maintained for Early Head Start, Prevention Initiative, and DCFS * Provide 2x/monthly reflective supervision for supervisees * Meet with the Early Care and Education Manager twice a month for reflective supervision * Facilitate seamless communication between staff in the Early Care and Education Department to include regular staff meetings and other methods of regular communication * Collaborate with Practice-Based Coaches to ensure a schedule is in place for teachers to utilize coaching to maintain center-based quality and ensure systems are in place for ongoing professional development for staff * Ensure lead teachers are completing timely developmental assessments and collaborating with families to create individualized child development goals * Ensure that teachers are completing monthly lesson plans and ensure that each activity has a school readiness goal * Collaborate with the Early Care and Education Coordinators and Manager to create and adjust scheduling to maintain classroom ratios, adequate breaks, and prep periods for teachers * Provide classroom support when needed and model teaching strategies * Ensure teachers are completing educational home visits and parent/teacher conferences twice a year and documentation is completed * Provide monthly reports and data to the Early Care and Education Manager Perform other work related or assigned duties *Education and Job Requirements* BA in Early Childhood Education or related field.
DCFS Director qualified.
Three (3) years combined experience with early childhood services preferred: Classroom, management, social work.
Experience and training in DCFS center-based licensing, supervision of staff, curriculum, quality programming, Early Intervention and disability services, and in the development of comprehensive program plans preferred.
Head Start experience preferred.
Ability to interact positively with program participants, agency representatives, and the community-at-large.
*Other Job Requirements* * Effective management skills including: written and verbal communication skills, decision-making skills, supervision abilities, managerial skills, time and stress management skills, organizational skills, and observational skills.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Head Start and ISBE Prevention Initiative systems or a willingness to learn.
* Ability to work cooperatively with supervisor, peers, and subordinates.
* Possess current First Aid and CPR cards with infant/child CPR or a willingness to complete.
* Ability to travel occasionally.
* Ability to pass agency sponsored physical examination.
* This position is an authorized driver and must possess own vehicle, current driver’s license, good driving record, and auto insurance coverage.
* THIS IS A MANDATED REPORTER POSITION.
* Must have ability to operate computers and possess basic knowledge of MS Windows, Microsoft Word and other software.
* Effective training/development skills.
* Must perform duties with moderate direction given, operating from established directions and instructions.
Decisions are made with general agency policy constraints, but requires independent decision-making.
*Physical Requirements of the Job* *Job Conditions:* May work outdoors intermittently with exposure to typical weather.
There may be frequent interruptions, working alone, evening or weekend work, working long hours during peak periods.
May be exposed to illnesses generally attributed to children.
*Mental Requirements of the Job:* Continual interaction with co-workers, parents, and children to provide information.
Must relate positively to children and adults.
Patient, able to resolve conflicts, creative, and resourceful.
Excellent problem solving, planning, and organizational skills.
Frequently faces deadlines with attention to detail and must complete tasks in a timely manner.
Supervision of multiple staff who oversee a wide-range of family services and supports.
Must be able to handle multi-faceted tasks on a frequent basis.
*Accountability* The Early Care and Education Coordinator is directly accountable to Baby TALK’s Early Care and Education Manager.
The Early Care and Education Manager evaluates the Early Care and Education Coordinator twice a year and more frequently if needed.
Reflective supervision is provided by the Early Care and Education Manager on a regular basis.
The Early Care and Education Coordinator is evaluated based on the responsibilities described in this position description.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $44,000.
00 - $46,000.
