SUMMARY
The Preschool Instructor assists in implementing and supervising the Preschool Program in a team approach.
This is a part-time non-exempt position.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent
Must be at least 21 years of age
Sixty hours of college-level classes with at least 18 hours in early childhood education or the equivalent in work experience
Ability to team teach with another teacher
Certification in CPR, First Aid training or willingness to obtain during probationary period

SUPERVISION
The Preschool Instructor is directly responsible to the Preschool Coordinator
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of the public, fellow employees, and themselves
Supervise children indoors and outdoors
Prepare daily activity materials
Implement activities such as storytelling, art, music, and science
Clean program area after program
Check equipment for safety hazards and report to director
Provide a warm, caring environment where both parents and children feel comfortable, safe, and happy
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Assists with overall program preparation
Complete other duties as assigned
Attend required meetings

Ability to organize and plan effectively for preschool appropriate activities
Ability to work in a team-teaching environment
Genuine concern and fondness for children and interest in their development and welfare
PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
Clear and audible speaking voice needed
Ability to function with low shelves and small tables
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
Exposed to season weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and dampness
Must enjoy working with small children
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS
Must be able to work well with people, resolve problems fairly and with judgment in keeping with the mission of the district
Should exercise creativity and resourcefulness in developing and implementing projects
Must be able to respond quickly and accurately in emergency situations.
Should be safety conscious at all times
