*SUMMARY*
Perform reconciliations on bank accounts of the Park District and various other general ledger accounts.
Post journal entries and daily activity prepare and distribute month-end reports and complete data entry for budget reports.
Develop and maintain spreadsheets for reporting and comparison purposes.
Public interaction, as well as interaction with District department directors, managers, and supervisors is required.
Maintaining a high level of knowledge about the District and its programs is essential.
Assist in answering the telephone and perform other general office work as required.
Compiles and maintains accounting records by performing the following duties: *ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
* Prepare bank reconciliations for all bank accounts on a monthly basis.
* Prepare journal entries for all DPD CDs to maintain current balances and investment bank listings * Provide bank account balances two times a month and upon request * Perform various general ledger account reconciliations * Prepare month-end and year-end journal entries as part of the month-end year-end closeouts * Assist throughout the budget process; make sure certain computations for administrative accounts (ex.
Utility and petroleum accts) are completed and entered in LOCIS as well as enter budget changes, prepare excel spreadsheets, summary and charts & graphs for budget books * Complete and submit various sales tax returns with required payments * Compile information, maintain records and prepare request for proposals for electric and natural gas to determine the suppliers of the District’s electricity and natural gas needs * Assist with the Foundation and Park Departments annual external audit * Enter new and returning employees payroll into the LOCIS System * Review outstanding check lists and pursue unclaimed checks * Prepare renewal of liquor licenses and supporting documents yearly.
* Maintain file and research any discrepancies for Consociate Flexible spending account, Self-Funded Insurance account, and HRA account * Research, prepare, mail, and process rebates * Process payment requests in LOCIS for Consociate Flexible Spending account, HRA account, and SFI account.
* Count bag money, starting cash, and bomb box money daily in summer months for various park programs.
* Process all DPD Youth Scholarship applications * Answer phones and assist any and all customers (internal and external) at the front counter in the absence of the receptionist * Other duties as assigned *QUALIFICATIONS* To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

*EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE* Associate’s degree (A.

) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; a minimum of five years’ experience in accounting related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
Rectrac and Locis experience a plus.
*LANGUAGE SKILLS* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
*MATHEMATICAL SKILLS* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
*REASONING ABILITY* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
