TITLE: Freedom School Program Enrichment Activity Facilitator
LOCATION: Tiger Academy
SUPERVISOR: Coordinators and/or Executive Director
SUPERVISES: Students
JOB SUMMARY: The Enrichment Activity Facilitator will provide skill-based enrichment activities/sessions to students participating in the freedom school after school program.
Facilitators will teach activities / sessions to foster skill or trade development based on their interest/skillset such as boxing, cosmetology, coding, dancing, photography, spoken word, art, home economics, theatre etc.
Facilitators are expected to teach skills and/or trades to students in 3-6 week long sessions for the duration of the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Actively participate in the Freedom Schools Program, providing sessions on Mondays and/or Tuesdays from 4:15pm-5:00pm.
Facilitators will teach an enrichment activity to students based on their interest/skillset, such as one of the following: boxing classes, hairbraiding, cooking, coding, dance classes, spoken word, etc.
Submit proposals for courses and lesson plans in advance to program coordinators for approval.
Initiate and encourage students attending the program.
Maintain a positive relationship with the students and staff working in the program.
Ask for guidance and assistance from the coordinators when unable to assist a student.
Monitor and supervise the students within assigned areas of the school.
Support positive approaches for dealing with student behavior.
Utilize de-escalation strategies when needed.
Arrive and depart on time for your scheduled work.
Perform other specialized duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum of Associate’s Degree or 60 hours of college credit desired
EXPERIENCE
Experience working in a school setting
Previous experience working in Freedom School Programming desired
Internal applicants preferred
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
De-escalation strategies, social and emotional learning strategies, and relationship building skills
Leadership skills
Position requires self-initiative and active engagement and participation throughout the program.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Hourly position and assigned number of hours/days.
Position is for the school year 2023-2024, 1-2 days per month on Monday or Tuesday from 4:15pm-5:00pm.
Specific hours to be determined by the coordinators.
Orientation meeting scheduled prior to the program startup.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
START DATE: To Be Determined by the Building Administration and the program coordinator.
NOTE:
This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position.
Position contingent upon grant funding.
