Decatur IL - Illinois Finance, Accounting, Audit Job Description Controller Global Finance Operations - Decatur, IL Job Scope Controllers at ADM are required to have deep technical and accounting knowledge in order to support the company's operations and Controlling function, in addition to having responsibilities for managing a team of highly technical and skilled colleagues.
They are expected to develop and maintain good working relationships with business partners and deliver necessary technical and project-related support across the organization.
Controllers must stay up-to-date on new regulations and/or standards which impact ADM, create and implement changes to comply with such regulations and/or standards, and be considered an expert in their field in order to provide reliable financial reporting and proper execution of internal controls.
Supplemental to managing Finance Operations activities, the Operations Controller will set the vision and strategy for RTR, including key process, policy, and system decisions.
They will be responsible for working across various ADM stakeholders to build and execute an RTR roadmap, which will include overseeing key projects to drive continuous improvement across RTR.
They will also work across the BUs, Regions, and GBS to manage and govern the overall close process and report progress to senior leadership.
Job Responsibilities Oversees, and is accountable for, for operational accounting processes and policies for ADM Finance globally Defines the strategy and vision across RTR, working with stakeholders across BUs, regions, and GBS Develops, manages, and takes accountability for the delivery of the Record to Report improvement roadmap.
Works closely across Controllership, GBS, and BPO organizations to enable the necessary changes.
Maintains a strong internal and operational control environment in compliance with company policies.
Reviews and analyzes consolidated financial results to ensure material accuracy per GAAP guidelines.
Supports annual review/revision of Key Financial Controls (SOX requirements) and process flows and work to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls Facilitates global consolidation of financial results, disclosures requirements, SOX controls, and other reporting as requested.
Serves as a corporate liaison and business advisor on accounting and reporting process matters to the Consolidation and Corporate Segment Controlling teams.
Collaborates with GBS leadership to define RTR SLAs and OLAs for RTR processes the are executed within GBS / BPO Defines KPIs for RTR and facilitates reporting on the performance of RTR processes to leadership Oversees operational implementation of new accounting standards, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance in partnership with the corporate controller Provides leadership for continuous improvement in the areas of financial accounting / across the Record to Report processes while enabling standardization / simplification, processes optimization, internal control efficiency, and internal financial reporting.
Works closely with GBS, Technical Accounting, Governance, Tax, BU Controllers and other key stakeholders as a part of this effort.
Collaborates with other leaders to identify and implement best practices across Supports COE projects as approved through demand management to ensure standardization and simplifications of processes.
Manages key personnel reviews and any changes in key personnel spanning the Controllership function and Record to Report processes Job-Specific Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting 10+ years of accounting experience Strong knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS and SOX Familiarity with financial planning, forecasting and analysis processes Strong functional understanding of ADM’s operating structure desired Visualization and communication skills (to a wide range of audiences both technical and non-technical) is required Prior supervisory experience Prior experience in managing multiple projects at one time and strong data analytics Proficient in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and Microsoft Office Suite Experience with Power BI, large ERP systems (e.
g.
JDE, SAP, etc) and blackline is a plus CPA or Equivalent (outside of U.
S.
