Overview:
The plant cost analyst is responsible for executing the Company’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports.
The position involves general accounting, capital expenditures, assisting internal & external auditors, cost accounting, account reconciliations, and budgetary controls.
Reports to the Plant Controller.
Position Responsibilities:
Development of new product standard costs and updating existing costs as required under GAAP and senior management.
Assist Plant Controller in product costing methodologies, including labor and overhead rates, and assure they are accurate and applied on a consistent basis.
Responsible for the preparation of manufacturing variances on a weekly basis, assisting the controller, plant manager and supervisors in providing additional support when needed.
Inventory roll forward and inventory reconciliations monthly, provide support to manufacturing.
Prepare reporting for inventory write off, assist in SLOB reporting and review.
Provide reports, analysis and system support of the cycle count inventory process.
Provide on-site support and review of the annual physical inventory for the plant and work with outside auditors during year-end audit.
Accounting function backup in various areas of department.
Execute the month-end and year-end closing process.
Must adhere scheduled timeline to meet monthly and annual deadlines.
Enter Manual Journal entries, prepare various analysis and reconciliations.
Identify Cost Savings Opportunities associated with plant operations.
Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
5 or more years of hands-on cost accounting / cost analytical experience in a manufacturing environment, which includes variance calculations, PPV and LCM analysis and Inventory reconciliations.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting.
Must possess excellent organizational, communication and presentation skill sets.
Ability to excel in a small group that works very closely together
Must have high proficiency in Excel capabilities, knowledge of Word & PowerPoint, and integrated accountings system.
